Autumn
A touch of cold in the Autumn night—
I walked abroad,
And saw the ruddy moon lean over a hedge
Like a red-faced farmer.
I did not stop to speak, but nodded,
And round about were the wistful stars
With white faces like town children.

Fantastic to see you sharing this fine Hulme poem. It could be argued it’s the first modern poem in English. I spoke at the T. E. Hulme Colloquium yesterday in Oxford, to mark his 130th birthday, and (if you’ll forgive the plug) I wrote this blog post on Hulme’s poetry: http://interestingliterature.wordpress.com/2013/08/16/t-e-hulme-the-first-modern-poet/
Thank you! Thank you also for sharing your blog post, I love reading interpretations of poetry (always!)
